Dear my fellow students,
The Office of Media and Communications in UCC has announced that the conferring charge, originally to be introduced for this year’s graduating class, will not be introduced this year. It will be deferred to Academic Year 2010/11.
I would like to acknowledge the work of students and local representatives, particularly those under the banners of UCC Young Fine Gael and Cork Student News, who made representations to the University against the introduction of the charge.
Negotiations will continue between the University Management Team and the Students’ Union concerning students due to graduate in 2011 and beyond. We are also committed to engaging in discussions surrounding the allocation of the student registration fee to make representations on how that money is disbursed.
I hope this email finds you all well and this is a welcome notification during the stressful exam period.
Your President,
Eoin
